Go Green to Benefit Your Health
Did you know that the "go green movement" can help you live longer? The benefits to living an eco-friendly lifestyle are endless. It has recently been discovered that living in this manner can help improve your health by preventing some of the most common wellness problems facing Americans, such as heart disease, prostate cancer, and skin cancer.
Heart Disease
A short time ago, it was realized that fine particles emitted from power plants, cars, and electricity generators are a contributing factor to heart problems. In 2008 alone, more than one million people will suffer a heart attack, and nearly half won't survive. This is staggering because little things such aseating organic, healthy foods
can prevent this from happening.
A 2008 study found that a daily dosage of only 300 mg of anthocyanins, which are found in blueberries, can help you avoid heart problems. Therefore, my advice is to go green because by doing so, you can also improve your lifestyle by getting healthier so you can live longer.
Prostate Cancer
Almost a billion pounds of pesticides are annually used in the Unites States, mostly for agriculture. Chemicals in pesticides are connected to global warming, as well as cases of prostate cancer (which affects an estimated 1 in 6 men). This is one of the greatest examples of how if you go green not you not only benefit the environment, but humankind, as well.
Skin Cancer
Skin cancer is another one of those problems that are directly caused by the harmful effects of global warming. Global warming has created a phenomena known as the greenhouse effect, which is essentially a buildup of infrared radiation within the Earth's atmosphere. This causes a drop in ozone levels, which in turn causes UV rays to become even more harmful to human skin.
It is very important to make eco-friendly choices to help save the planet because otherwise, the ozone layer will continue to deplete and the abundance of skin cancer will increase.

Go Green . . . Live Eco-Friendly. . . Live Longer
Apart from disease prevention, going green and living a nature-friendly lifestyle can help you live longer. There are parts of the world where the average lifespan is 100 years! What do all of these places have in common? Healthy natural surroundings. When I say "healthy surroundings" I mean an atmosphere that contains pure water and clean air, and hasn't been tainted by the modern world.
This may seem like a fairytale to those of us who live in big cities, but even life in the city has the capability to be green, clean and smog-free. However, in order for a metropolis to transform into a rain forest, we would all have to start making much better choices, such as converting to alternative energy and recycling
more often. |
