Go Green and Revitalize Your Office

Aside from the home, the office is one of the easiest places to go green. The workplace also contains some of the greatest economic benefits to going green. This is because some companies employ hundreds and hundreds of people, therefore eco-friendly changes are even more effective.

The first tip to greening up your workplace has nothing to do with the actual office itself. By carpooling, multiple employees can get to work in one vehicle, thereby decreasing the amount of vehicles on the road and reducing the amount of emissions that enter the environment.

Carpooling also comes in handy when taking kids to school or going out to dinner. If everyone carpooled everyday, the state of the environment would greatly improve.

Another way to go green in your office is to implement eco-friendly products in the workplace, such as recycled paper in the printers. You can take this one step further by actually creating a recycling system within the office building so that everyone can recycle their papers and other reusable products such as empty ink and toner cartridges.

Along these same lines, a company could also save money and help the environment by purchasing recycled ink and toner cartridges.

Going digital is another way for a business to go green and decrease their carbon footprint. One 100 MB zip drive can store the same amount of data that would fill a four-drawer filing cabinet, and one CD-ROM can hold virtually a roomful of paper!

Go Green and Save Money - Eco friendly living is a must for any one looking to become environmentally friendly.

By implementing these digital products, storage will be much more convenient with disks and CD-ROMs than with stacks of paper everywhere you turn.

I would also highly advise every corporation to use energy saving light bulbs in their buildings. These use 75% less energy than standard incandescent bulbs, and they last up to 10 times longer. Since lighting uses almost 10-20% of the energy in commercial buildings, eco-friendly bulbs can help improve the quality of the environment, and help you and your business save money on energy bills.

My final energy-saving tip is for all companies out there to cut back on the amount of electricity that is used. You should install power strips wherever possible so that whenever electronic devices are not in use, they can be disconnected from the electricity source.

Another way to go green is to use daylight instead of synthetic light whenever possible. If you work in a corner office in the middle of Los Angeles, you don't really need the lights on all day now do you?
